Etta James’s manager, Lupe De Leon, has recently released a statement saying that the terminally ill blues legend has been hospitalized after experiencing troubles with her breathing.
De Leon has been James’s manager for over thirty years and, unfortunately, says that the singer is in “pretty bad shape” right now. She is currently at a hospital in southern California.
Her doctor recently said that the singer, who’s famous for her song “At Last” and many other soul-wrenching blues melodies, has been diagnosed with leukemia and also suffers from dementia. Up until now, the Grammy-winner and Rock-and-Roll Hall of Famer has been receiving home care.
We wish her all the best. Check out the video below to witness the power and grace she gave to the blues genre.
