Is Kim Kardashian engaging in some retail therapy? The soon to be (second time) divorcee has just spent nearly 65K on three jade and diamond bangles originally owned by the late Elizabeth Taylor.
The bracelets, made by the famous Los Angeles jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz, went on the Christie’s auction block this week in NYC along with several other pieces from the Elizabeth Taylor collection. Overall, the collection is worth an estimated $116 Million.
The bangles sold well above their $8,000 estimate, as Kardashian shelled out $64,900 in total. Schwartz, who purchased the bracelets for Kardashian, said Taylor wore the white, black and lavender bangles nearly everyday. Kardashian was originally planning on buying directly from her showroom, but opted to purchase from the Taylor collection because she has long idolized the late Hollywood icon.
Kardashian, who was the last person to interview Taylor before she died, commented in an interview with Forbes this morning that she has always adored Taylor. She also spoke about the power of jade, saying, “If you have a piece of jade, the energy goes into the piece and you absorb the energy … So I can feel Elizabeth in the piece.”
Perhaps Kardashian is hoping that Taylor’s energy with help her through her tricky divorce drama with Kris Humphries. After all, Taylor was famously married and divorced eight times over her life. Kim needs to channel that Taylor divorce recovery power!
