This weekend marked the conclusion of the Venice Film Festival and the start of accolades for Irish actor Michael Fassbender aka ‘Hollywood’s newest rugged hottie’. The star was awarded Best Actor for the film for drama ‘Shame’, in which his character faces the perils of sex addiction. Though no trailer has been released for the film, a short clip has surfaced on Youtube, which shows Fassbender eyeing a positional conquest on a NYC subway. If only real life public transit perps were as appealing.
The Venice Film Festival honor is just one of many Fassbender has received in his short career. In 2009 he won the BAFA for Rising Star and a total of six film festival honors for the harrowing 2008 film ‘Hunger’, for which the actor starved himself in order to accurately portray the slow death of Bobby Sands. It’s no surprise that ‘Shame’ has garnered the star critical acclaim since it was directed by Steve McQeen, who also directed ‘Hunger’.
Audiences first took notice of Fassbender in the film ‘300’ as well as ‘Inglorious Basterds’, ‘Jane Eyre’, and ‘X-Men: First Class’. ‘Shame’ is just one of the many upcoming films starring the actor. ‘A Dangerous Method’ and ‘Prometheus’ are also set for release.
