It seems pin thin Duchess of Cambridge is still suffering from pregnancy complications that is leaving Kate Middleton and her gestating royal fetus starving. Although Kate was released from the hospital after intensive treatment for hyperemesis gravidarum – extreme morning sickness – it seems the condition is still very much a factor in her pregnancy and still causing problems.
Even looking at food makes the Duchess nauseous, so she’s turning to hypnotherapy to try and restore her appetite. Kate’s college dorm mate Jessica Hay told New Idea magazine, “[She] still looks at food and feels nauseous. [She has] that feeling you have when you’ve had food poisoning and your stomach’s shrunk… [She’s using hypnotherapy] in a bid to help with her appetite.”
Hay told the magazine the hypnotherapy is helping the Duchess who is now able to keep down snacks including smoothies, oatmeal and some veggies. Kate’s friend says, “She finds it very hard to eat a full meal and gets full very quickly. The hypnotherapy is taking away any negative thoughts connected with food from the morning sickness and replacing them with cravings for healthy, nutritious food.”
The always thin Duchess needs to find a way to eat – but morning sickness can feel like the worst stomach flu imaginable. And calling it morning sickness is generous – it’s really whenever it feels like it sickness. I threw up for six months straight – all day, all night – when I was pregnant, so she has my sympathy. And I wasn’t producing a future King or Queen, so I can’t imagine the stress she’s under on top of the extreme nausea…
And even though Kate has been shunning official duties, she is reportedly out and about feeling better. She was spotted in a Starbucks near Kensington Palace while out walking her dog Lupo with a bodyguard. The Duchess ordered a decaf coffee drink and got a cookie to go with it. Sounds like the hypnotherapy is working!
Now magazine also reports that the Duchess is getting plenty of sleep – 8 to 10 hours a night, playing Adele and Ellie Goulding for her growing bump and even talking to it. A friend told the UK mag, “Meanwhile, Wills has been poring over pregnancy books.”
We’re glad the Duchess is feeling better and are looking forward to the first official baby bump sighting. If Kate’s appetite is returning, it could be soon – she’s already 14 weeks and counting – so the bump watch is officially on!
