#Graceland begins with Johnny in bad shape after being beaten by Javi’s men. A woman helps Johnny and gives him a towel. She says it must be sad to go away and come back to no one and nowhere. She says she knows that boys need a home. She says he found one with them. She tells him welcome home. Turns out she’s the boss, not Javi, looks like. She shoos the other guys out to let Johnny clean up.
The others make fun of Charlie’s Christmas ornaments while Jakes and Charlie go over their bank info. Briggs asks if they’re opening a bank. ICE is letting them run the operation. They’re trying to cut Germaine out from his contacts so that the ATF doesn’t want him and they can arrest him. Johnny comes in looking awful. He says he’s under with Soto. He says he didn’t know it but they jumped him in.
Briggs says he’s going to pull him but Johnny says he’s good and is going to Lady Arrabuena’s house tomorrow. Johnny says he’s going to see it through. Briggs reluctantly agrees after Paige takes his side. Mike says it’s kind of incredible to watch Briggs work. He says Briggs just got Johnny to beg Briggs to let him do what he wants. He shows them the flyers that Briggs put at Gusti’s apartment. Johnny says he wouldn’t do it. Paige says it got him clean.
Mike says he thinks Briggs is tied to the sarin gas and now he’s looking for the strings to tie him to it. Paige is incredulous. Briggs is with Ari at the bar and Ari is crying because his Uncle Tevin died. He asks that sounded convincing. Ari says not so much. He asks if Ari had a dog that died as a kid and says to think about that. He says he killed his mom’s two annoying spaniels. Martun shows up and Ari cries to Martun. Martun says to be proud of what Tevan did for them and tells him no sadness.
Ari says it’s all taken care of – the funeral home, casket, all of it. Briggs says if Soto Street wants to hit them, they could hit the funeral. Martun says funerals are sacred and Briggs says to men of honor like him but he says Soto Street are animals and suggests guards. Martun agrees and says to post them discreetly. They drink to Tevan’s memory. Jakes and Charlie are setting up their fake bank in Miami and it has to look convincing. They have a team and they are all working.
The name of the bank is DJL Trust and Dale Jenkins is the president. The bank looks legit once they’re done. Javi rides with Johnny and talks to him about crossing lines. He tells Johnny he would have cut his ass up but his mom likes him. He tells Johnny his mom is a saint and says the only reason the community has anything is because of his mom. He says when they wanted it to go condo, his mom sent him with the box to the lady at the planning commission to show her what would happen.
They head inside and Johnny takes a pile of food and Arrabuena asks about his mom. He says she doesn’t appreciate his lifestyle. She says her husband used to run Soto Street and she worried but she hasn’t lost one son since then. Johnny eats her carnitas and compliments them. She says she talked to Martun and says they have a problem. He says it’s Ari’s sidekick. Johnny asks what’s going on. His mom says Javi’s GF screwed around on him and now Javi wants revenge.
Arrabuena says the puta needs to learn the lesson and says to send her head home in a box to her parents so they teach their next daughter not to spread her legs to anyone. Mike is trying to figure out what Briggs is up to. He has a map, strings, notes and is tracking things to South America and all across the West Coast. Paige comes in and Mike says it’s a freighter route and he’s trying to figure out where the sarin gas came from. She says to tell her what he knows.
He says the crate went from Egypt to LA and he thinks Briggs hid the sarin gas himself. He says he thinks Briggs flew to Russia to plant it. Paige asks wouldn’t Briggs and Gusti know each other if he gave Gusti the phone. She suggest he just ask Gusti. Mike comes over and finds Gusti watching his new rat that Briggs have him. Mike asks him who gave him the phone. He says the mail man. Mike asks when Rossi came in, did he recognize him. Gusti asks how he could know Mike’s friend?
Gusti tells him when he met him he was dumb and now he’s paranoid. Gusti says he’s going to take the rat with him when he visits Madison in rehab. Germaine and Jakes are at the horse races. Germaine says they are meeting a dozen clients but one that matters – Paulo. He introduces them. Jakes heads to the buffet and looks around. He spots a woman and hones in on her. Charlie shows up to the suite and approaches Germaine.
Jakes comes up to the woman at the buffet and teases her about eating shrimp but she says they’re prawns and rattles off a bunch of differences. She says she’s there with clients and won’t beat her in an argument. Germaine asks Charlie how she found him. She flashes her badge and says to take a walk or she’s going to embarrass him in front of his friends. They step out. Jakes chats up the woman some more. He gives her his number and asks for Courtney’s.
He says he has to go and rushes out. Charlie walks Germaine down the hall and rattles off charges she’s going after him for. She sees Jakes and gives him a nod. The DEA broad is there once she takes Germaine outside and asks Charlie what she thinks she’s doing.
Jakes talks to Paulo and he says when he heard Germaine hired a gangster he was skeptical. Jakes says he’s not a gangster and says Germaine knows nothing about him. He says they should talk and hands him his card and says they should talk about his bank. Charlie tells the DEA/ATF chick that Germaine tied her to a chair and almost beat her to death. Charlie argues with her and Germaine says Americans have bad manners. The ATF chick tells Charlie she better not see her again.
Charlie smiles as she walks off. Jakes explains to him how much more overhead that Germaine has and says it’s 100% legitimate and federally insured. He asks what his cut is and Jakes says no cut – he operates like any other bank and invests money overnight. He says he’ll put 30% back in his pocket. He invites Paulo to come look around tomorrow. Germaine comes back and reclaims his seat. Paulo seems thoughtful.
Briggs advises Ari to put up 12 guards just to be safe. He gets a call and says he has to take the call. It’s Johnny who says the girl he shagged is about to be killed. He says the mom made peace with Martun and they’re going to cut the girl’s head off instead. Briggs says he’ll take care of it. Ari says 20 guards outside and two in the car. Briggs tells Ari that he just got a call from Eva, Javi’s girl. He says she told him that Javi is on the way to kill her. He says they should roll by and take the guy out.
Ari says Martun told hm they were in a holding pattern. Ari says if he was Tevan, he would have buried them. Ari says they don’t respect him and says he needs to show them who he is. Ari says let’s go save the GF. They roll out to Eva’s place and find Javi threatening Eva. She says she’s sorry. He has a power tool ready to cut off her head. Ari shoot him in the back. Ari tells her to stop screaming and says he saved her and calls her dumb dumb. Briggs hauls her outside.
He tells her to get out of town. He says Javi is dead and his people will come for her. He says she has to go and never come back. She says this is his fault and she wishes she never met him. She calls him a dickhead and he says sorry. She leaves. Briggs goes back into the bedroom and tells Ari it’s a mess. Ari says it’s nothing and he grabs up the power tool that Javi had laid down. He says he’s doing to send them a message they’ll undestand and cuts off Javi’s head.
Paige and Mike talk about Briggs. She says the timing is off. Johnny comes in and says Briggs was in Mexico they day they’re talking about. Paige says none of the routes work out then. Mike thinks and says the ship refuels in Santa Barbara. He says Briggs was late that day. He says they need to go to Santa Barbara and says they need to see if he was on tape. He says if they find nothing in Santa Barbara, he’ll shut up.
Johnny says maybe there is something. He says Briggs didn’t come home last night and now all of Soto Street has been called in. Paulo shows up at the bank to get a tour from Jakes. He answers questions about the cash handling. Charlie shows the ATF chick the tape of Paulo and says he belongs to Jakes now. She says they still can’t have Germaine and they get into a little pissing match. Paulo is very interested in the offer. Jakes smiles at the camera.
Charlie tells her that her network will stay intact and they’ll hand it all over as long as she gets Germaine. Charlie has Germaine in cuffs and he says the ATF will be there for him. He says she can’t touch him. She says Dale Jenkins is a federal agent who just stole his top client Paulo. He says she’s full of shit and she laughs and says – am I? He calls her a bitch and says he should have dropped her off a ledge when he had a chance. He says she can really take punishment and like it.
He says her belly is gone so the baby thing must not have worked out. He says he’s glad she lost her baby and says go on, give him a punch for her dead baby. She says she’s not stupid. She says no chance at a brutality charge and calls him a scumbag. She says she’ll see him at trial. Jakes watches it all through the glass then goes to find her. She’s upset but hanging in. She says she beat him a thousand times in her head. She punches the wall and curses.
Johnny shows up and Arrabuena tells him Javi didn’t come home last night and there’s blood at Eva’s place. He says he stayed out late being stupid. He says he’s sure it’s fine. Someone comes out and tells her she got a package. She goes inside and Johnny hears her scream. It’s Javi’s head. Jakes meets up with the chick he was flirting with at the horse races. She says she doesn’t know anything about him and guesses athlete then firefighter. He says banker and that makes them both villains.
He jokes since she’s a lawyer. She says people ask how she sleeps at night for defending monsters. She says everyone deserves a good lawyer – he jokes with her and asks how she does sleep – on a bed of money. She says she’s good at what she does and he flirts shamelessly. Martun looks at Tevan in his coffin and says the older boys used to pick on Tevan for being a skinny little kid. He says he beat up his first kid defending him and says he bit and kicked.
Briggs says they should make sure they’re set up. Martun says he has a right to say goodbye to their fallen. He tells Ari to get his men in place and let him know if anything is going on. In Santa Barbara, Paige is at the pier looking at Coast Guard footage. They spot a Bronco. Paige points out Briggs moving a crate. She asks what is he doing with sarin gas. Johnny calls and says shit is going down. He says Javi’s head is in a box and Arrabuena wants to wipe them out. He asks if they have the gas. He spots a crate. He hangs up and Mike says they have to get back to LA.
