Is Kate Middleton forcing Prince William to abandon friends from his bachelor days? The Duke of Cambridge skipped out best friend Oliver Hicks’ recent wedding and no none seems to know why.
Daily Mail sources report that Prince William and Kate Middleton were nowhere to be found when the Duke of Cambridge’s closest friend from Eton married Rose Kingscote last weekend. Princess Charlotte’s godfathers’ James Meade and Thomas Van Straubenzee were on hand to congratulate the couple following the ceremony.
Oliver Hicks once described Prince William as one of his best friends at Eton. Now it appears as if Oliver and William have become estranged. There has been talk that Kate and William’s marriage is in trouble and maybe William is playing by Kates’s rules to keep the peace and avoid another Royal divorce.
This isn’t the first-time Kate Middleton has been absent from one of Prince William’s buddies’ weddings. In 2015 the Duchess of Cambridge caused quite a stir when she opted to stay home rather than accompany William to at least five weddings.
Most notably the Duchess of Cambridge, for goodness knows what reason, decided not to attend the wedding of Bear Maclean and socialite Daisy Dickson in 2015. Pippa Middleton was Prince William’s plus one to that affair. However, the hosts didn’t know that Kate wasn’t coming until the last minute and her name was still on the seating plan for the reception.
Kate Middleton attended dozens of Prince William’s friends’ weddings in the two years leading up to the Cambridge’s April 2011 wedding. After William put the ring made of Welsh gold on Kate’s finger it seems she never attended another of his friends’ nuptials.
Daily Mail reports that a Kensington Palace spokesman declined to comment on Kate Middleton and Prince Williams absence from Oliver Hicks wedding. Kensington Palace is not in the habit of discussing the personal lives of the Royal Family.
The exception to that rule lately was a statement from Prince Harry regarding his girlfriend Meghan Markle. The prince was forced to reveal his relationship with the ‘Suits’ actress because Meghan was being harassed by the media. In his statement Prince Harry revealed that he feared for Meghan Markle’s safety.
