New reports indicate that Queen Elizabeth is getting ready to step down from the throne. That’s why Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are taking on new leadership roles in the monarchy. The royal couple even recently led the family’s church trip on Christmas Day.
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles lead the royals on their annual pilgrimage to Sandringham Estate during the holiday weekend. Prince Harry, along with Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and several members of the royal family, followed them from behind. Even though Prince Philip managed to make it to church on Christmas Day, Queen Elizabeth was noticeably absent. Sources say the Queen is still feeling ‘terrible’ because of her heavy cold. In fact, doctors have recommended that she stay indoors until further notice.
Is Queen Elizabeth finally stepping down because of her health issues? Is Prince Charles finally going to be King of England? That’s what many royal observers believe. Charles is stepping it up and showing the public that he’s ready to be a leader. He made a powerful but poignant speech on Christmas Day. Many insiders say that Charles will be making more public appearances in the coming weeks while the Queen continues to stay indoors.
There were previous reports indicating that Queen Elizabeth wanted Prince William and Kate Middleton to take the throne after her retirement. Several years ago the Queen met with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge about the future of the royal family and British monarchy. In fact, she even discussed a massive change in hierarchy with the British government at a cabinet meeting back in 2012.
Sources said at the time that the Queen wanted to make her grandson Prince William King of England. Clearly, that is not going to happen. Prince Charles has stepped up to the plate. If and when Queen Elizabeth relinquishes her position, Prince Charles will be the oldest heir to accede to the British throne.
Buckingham Palace has not made any additional comments about Queen Elizabeth or her health for that matter. Do you think Queen Elizabeth is retiring?
