General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest this is the perfect time for Vincent Irizarry, fired from Days of Our Lives, to reprise his role of David Hayward. This is a role for which the greatly talented Vincent Irizarry is fondly remembered on the much loved and now canceled ABC soap operas, All My Children (AMC) and One Life to Live (OLTL).
With GH’s Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) suddenly sick with a mysterious illness and her beloved Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) deceased, it would be the ideal time to bring back her ex-husband David Hayward, a man who deeply loved her and strong enough to take on Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) if needed.
Longtime fans of AMC and Vincent Irizarry will remember that David and Anna were married in 2002, and shortly thereafter their daughter, Leora was born. Leora had a heart condition and while he fought against the procedure; Anna signed off on it resulting in Leora’s death. Their marriage fell apart and Anna tells him she is going to Paris where her daughter, Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) was living and told him not to follow.
General Hospital’s Anna Devane needs someone to help her with Valentin and all the disturbing memories she has from their time in the WSB Academy. It is clear Valentin has a vendetta against Anna for sanctioning his assassination, and there is no one currently in Port Charles who is up for the task of keeping her safe and alive, so why not being David Hayward back to protect her and take care of the Cassadine curse for once and for all?
More recent GH viewers may have no idea who Vincent Irizzarry is, but his resume speaks volumes to his incredible acting abilities. He began his daytime career on Guiding Light as one half of supercouple with Judi Evans (Adrienne, Days of Our Lives). After 2 years on Santa Barbara he landed the role of David Hayward on All My Children, leading to a cross over One Life to Live.
In 2006, Irizarry was hired to play David Chow on CBS’ The Young and the Restless were he became romantically involved with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) making him a bitter rival to bigwig Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). AMC rehired him in 2008 and he remained until the series finale.
In 2013, Vincent Irizarry was hired to play the vengeful and angry younger brother to Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. It is clear he can hold his own when it comes to such huge powerhouses, and General Hospital fans will not be disappointed with him if he is to join the ABC soap opera.
