California 80mph wild-fires force mass celebrity evacuation

Raging wildfires raced towards mansions along the fabled Malibu shoreline today as ferocious winds fuelled a second day of out-of-control blazes across Southern California. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency after more than 40,000 acres were burnt from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border in San Diego. One person has been killed and thousands have been evacuated from the danger zones around twelve separate fires.

Flames rip through homes in Malibu yesterday!

?Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Newton-John and ‘Titanic’ director James Cameron were among those forced to leave their multi-million pound homes in the seaside celebrity enclave of Malibu, one of the worst-hit areas.

The coastal area is also home to stars including Barbra Streisand, Richard Gere, Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson and Dick Van Dyke. At least five mansions burned in the blaze that quickly spread with 80mph winds, damaging businesses and landmarks in one of America’s most exclusive neighbourhoods. Source
