NBC Shakes Up Format of “The Jay Leno Show”

When NBC announced the format of The Jay Leno Show, the network made it a point to note that it would be turning the structure from The Tonight Show on its head.  While it would start with a monologue, the network said Jay would save the signature comedy bits for the end of the episode in order to provide the strongest news lead-in for its local affiliates.   However, on Monday, November 9, the show finally broke from that mold, and returned to a format much closer to that of Leno’s Tonight Show.

I have never watched ‘The Jay Leno Show’ and I never will – I have seen perhaps a total of 10 minutes of shows like Letterman or Leno in the course of my TV viewing life and somehow I feel none the poorer!  Anytime I imagine millions of people sitting around getting their information and forming their opinions from what goofs like Leno say I shudder. Americans would be better and wiser if they took their lessons form Sesame Street.  Photo: Flynet Pictures
