It seems that Polanski will be able to receive sentencing for the rape he committed in 1977 without returning to the USA. The Court made it clear that should Polanski so request they would be willing to begin a sentencing hearing which would provide a venue for an evaluation of the claims of judicial misconduct made by Polanski’s legal team. Furthermore, the Court indicated that should the claims of judicial misconduct prove persuasive final sentencing would see that Polanski does not spend any more time behind bars. Well – sounds like a plan if I’ve ever seen one!
The question that remains is why is this high level court going out of their way to make it as easy as possible for a man who admitted to drugging and raping a child? I don’t get it. Every day innocent people are convicted and suffer untold costs and humiliation due to being unable to afford good legal representation – and here is Polanksi the millionaire stud making a mockery of the US Criminal Justice System… and being aided every step of the way BY this same system!!
