On the Today show this AM the Salahi’s spoke with Matt Lauer. Tareq Salahi said "We are deeply saddened that we have been portrayed as "party-crashers." He added that "We have great respect for the Secret Service. We have great respect for President Obama." They also promised that there will be new information which will prove them to have been the victims of a misunderstanding. They maintain vehemently that they were invited and that they will be exhonerated. They say the experience surrounding their attendance at the state dinner for the visiting Indian prime minister has been a "most devastating." The couple is also claiming they had not discussed accepting money from any party or organization, including NBC, for telling their story. In contrast to this claim reports given to the "New York Daily News" by an anonymous source stated the "couple contacted networks and urged them to" get their bids in" for an interview. They were allegedly seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars for their story.
