Ever since Singer/Songwriter Angela Lashley received that gut-wrenching phone call from her son Jonathan that he’d left college to enlist in the army, her musical craft has been inspired by the war of our time. It was the overwhelming need to express what she’d witnessed in him all his life that drew her to write the beautiful tribute ‘So Brave’ .
Destined to be a classic war song, ‘So Brave’ over time would grow to be known as the ‘Military Mothers’ Anthem’, which deemed Lashley the ‘Musical Military Mom of this War’; The song’s touching melody and lyrics, so radial even our previous First Lady, Laura Bush, had her secretary call to ask for a personal copy!
Lashley continues to take her support to a higher level by initiating the ‘Blue Star Christmas Eve’, a project asking all military families nationwide to proudly display and light up a ‘Blue Star’ in their window this Christmas Eve to show that they have a family member in service. The true meaning of the Blue Star symbol is decoded in another of her songs ‘Blue Star in the Window’, available for free download on her website. There also is a link to the printable blue star for free.
The ‘Blue Star’ project hopes to build the morale and instill faith in the hearts of all people involved with the military, also to let people know that those serving our country are right next door, and of course, to show love and support to other military families.
” The holidays can be terribly difficult while family members are at war, if everyone in this country recognized the BLUE STARS for what they are, That it means “this is the home of a soldier”, it would surely boost the morale of the families.”. And if all those stars were shinning bright all over this country on Christmas Eve, imagine what that could do for a soldier’s morale”.
