The Australian actors – who star in the festival’s opening movie ‘Robin Hood’ – have arrived at the famous Mediterranean resort to promote the film, which goes on general release this week. The event sees a number of big movies showing, including ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ featuring Michael Douglas and Carey Mulligan.
This year’s Palme d’Or prize features two British directors Mike Leigh – who picked up the award for 1996 film ‘Secrets and Lies’ and Ken Roach, as well as 17 other movies. Tim Burton is leading this year’s jury for the prize, which also features films from Mexico’s Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and South Korean’s Lee Chang-dong. Burton is joined by Benicio del Toro, Shekhar Kapur and Kate Beckinsale on the panel. The winner of the Palme d’Or prize will be announced on May 23, the final day of the festival.
