The ‘House’ star – who currently plays the titular character Dr. Gregory House – has signed with Warner Music Entertainment to record a New Orleans-inspired blues album. He said: “I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity. I know the history of actors making music is a chequered one, but I promise no one will get hurt. “
The award-winning actor – who plays guitar and piano while appearing as his alter-ego in ‘House’ – will work with Grammy award-winning music producer Joe Henry on the record. Hugh explained: “I am particularly thrilled to be working with Joe Henry, who has produced some of my favourite records of all time, and I can’t wait to get started.”
As well as writing songs for the likes of Madonna, the producer has also worked with artists such as Elvis Costello and Solomon Burke. The self-taught musician – who is to release his debut album in the autumn – recently admitted he was convinced ‘House’ would fail when it was first shot in 2004. He said: “Those first years, that was tough going. It was hard keeping morale up and keep concentrating, keep forging ahead.”
