Yesterday, it was said that Paris Hilton was offered a plea deal in her arrest for possession of cocaine. Now, we’ve learned that in order to avoid a stint in the pokey, Paris has accepted the terms of the deal.
She will reportedly serve a year of probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor counts of drug possession and obstructing an officer. The prosecutors added the obstruction charge because she claimed the Chanel purse wasn’t hers, when in fact, it had been purchased months prior to the incident. In doing so, she avoids two consecutive six month sentences in a Las Vegas facility.
In addition to the year of probation, she must also complete a drug abuse program, pay a fine of $2,000 (chump change for her) and serve 200 hours of community service.
It should be noted, however, that if Paris commits any offense during her year of probation, it can be suspended, thus leaving her to serve the full year in jail. I really hope that does not happen!
