Dr. Glen House is a C7 quadriplegic who attempts to defy the odds and climb a mountain spanning over 13 miles, scaling an altitude over 14,000 feet high utilizing the wheel chair technology provided by eMotion Wheels.; and he’s doing it for charity.
On Saturday, September 10, 2011 Dr. House will attempt this feat that most healthy, non disabled humans can’t accomplish as he takes on Pike’s Peak in Colorado Springs.
He puts his endurance to the test to raise money for two charities he is passionate about. The charities benefiting from the event are BIAC (Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado) and Think First.
Dr. House is the Medical Director of the Center for Neuro & Trauma Rehabilitation at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO and host of his own radio Talk Show geared to the disabled community (“Dr. House: Living With and Beyond Disability”) heard on Health Radio.
He was an avid body builder and extreme skier before breaking his neck and injuring his back 21 years ago. It may have removed his mobility, but it didn’t kill his spirit, and now Dr. House proves to the world you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
“I am very excited to have this opportunity; it takes a lot of training and preparation, especially with my condition. However, in the end two charities benefit and we raise awareness for brain and spinal cord injuries” says Dr. House.
