Edward Cullen De-Fanged – Robert Pattinson Tries On New Role As Jacob

Is it just me or does (my boyfriend) Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon’s new movie ‘Water For Elephants’  look really, really good?   I had the chance to watch the trailer for it yesterday, and to my surprising delight I found myself very eager to go see it.   Why surprisingly you ask?   Well it’s obviously virtually impossible to convince my brain that my RPattz is anyone other than the breathtakingly beautiful/stunning/amazing/wonderful/delicious vampire Edward Cullen.   I know, I know – he’s an actor and it is his job to portray different roles but…’Remember Me’?   Just not my cup a tea and not the best use of his acting chops in my opinion.

However, this brings us back to his latest film, starring alongside the forever magnificent and talented, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. The story takes place during The Great Depression, where a young and recently orphaned young man (Rob) abandons his pursuit of becoming a veterinarian and enters the circus world of ‘freaks, drifters, and misfits’ struggling to survive during the hardships of the time. It’s here he meets Marlena (Witherspoon) and her husband, the charismatic yet twisted animal trainer played by Waltz. And of course, he meets some elephants, one in which he develops a special bond with (why have I too suddenly developed an affinity with elephants??). According to  Pattinson after a recent call-in to Ryan Seacrest, when asked how Twilight fans would  feel about his character’s name being ‘Jacob’ in the film (if you don’t know Jacob from Twilight you’re in need of help), Pattinson said, “As soon as I read it, that was one of my main concerns, one of my only concerns, the fact that he’s Polish as well, Jacob Jankowski kind of takes away from it. It’s very different from ‘Twilight.'” Hmmm, that could work for me if I try really, really hard…

Not only does the storyline sound very attractive and promising, the magical tone to the film by means of colors, set design and plain imagination is what I think garner this movie’s illuminating appeal. That, and I am a sucker for love stories. This quote from imdb.com says it all, “It tells a story of a love between two people that overcomes incredible odds in a world in which even love is a luxury that few can afford”.  So it’s no Twilight and Bella’s out of the picture, but I for one will be lining up at the box office for this one.
