George Clooney Was in So Much Pain He 'Contemplated Suicide'

It’s hard to believe that seems-happy-all-the-time George Clooney would ever think about killing himself — but, believe it or not, the ladies man has . . . and he even formulated a plan as to how he might go about it.

The actor, 50, sustained a severe spinal injury when he was filming Syriana in 2005 and was allegedly in so much pain that he thought ending his life would be the only way to cope with the excruciating circumstance.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Clooney says, “I was at a point where I thought, ‘I can’t exist like this. I can’t actually live.’

The actor continues:

I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you’re having a stroke, and for a short three-week period, I started to think, ‘I may have to do something drastic about this’ … but I never thought I’d get there,” he continues. “See, I was in a place where I was trying to figure out how to survive.

While Good Ol’ George said he thought about suicide, he never actually planned to go through with it, so he resorted to heavy drinking to numb the intolerable pain. Since then, George has had surgeries to help with his spinal problems, but reports that he still gets headaches related to the incident.
