Justin Bieber took time from his busy schedule to film a PSA for the Remember Alex Brown Foundation, raising awareness of the hazards of texting and driving. The foundation was founded shortly after the death of Alex, a teenage girl who was killed in 2009. Her death was attributed to driving while on the phone texting.
The video (see below) which was first published on YouTube has received hundreds of thousand of hits within three days. Bieber has encouraged his fans to download the ‘PhoneGuard‘ app. The app can sense when the vehicle is moving consequently it blocks any messages sent to you while you’re driving.
In addition to getting the free app, Bieber says that he will give away one of his tour jackets that he has worn to one lucky winner who downloads the app and signs up.
Do you think ‘PhoneGuard‘ will help raise awareness to those who text and drive? Do you think it will reduce the amount of people who ignore the risk? Let us know in the comments below.
