Katy Perry was not blindsided by Russel Brand filing for divorce yesterday – in fact she insisted on it. It seems that Katy’s parents are both Evangelical Christian pastors and she is trying to spare them the horror of having their daughter break the covenant of marriage. Thus Katy in fact used Russel to play the role of the ‘bad guy’ to help preserve her relationship with her hard core religious parents.
Yesterday Russel filed separation documents in Los Angeles citing “irreconcilable differences” and now we know that it was with Katy’s urging and approval. Katy Perry was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson and raised by her mother and father, Mary and Keith Hudson and they both believe divorce is wrong. Of course if they can read – and look at the Internet they will realize that Katy is behind the divorce.
According to TMZ, the couple knew their relationship was in trouble two months ago – at the same time as rumors emerged that they would be getting divorced – but they were determined to try to fix the problems stay together. Apparently they didn’t try hard enough as their efforts failed miserably. Both Katy and Russell admit that their once strong love “just wasn’t there” any longer. Guess it just wasn’t that strong.
The pair made the decision to file divorce papers before spending Christmas apart, with the Katy heading to Hawaii with friends, while the Russel spending the festive holiday in Cornwall, England.
The couple must now decide how they will split their combined $80 million estate, with the divorce papers showing the rights to their properties are yet to be assigned.
Katy’ worth is reputed to be more than double Russell’s $25 million.
“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends” said Russell – let’s see how true these words remain as the divorce progresses.
