Law & Order: SVU will be losing one of my favorite characters Det. Elliot Stabler. Christopher Meloni played Stabler for 12 years and decided to leave the show because he could not come to a contract agreement with NBC. Good news for fans, rather than take the route that many television shows do when a character leaves, Law & Order has decided to handle Christopher Meloni‘s exit in several episodes.
I am so happy to know that they will not be killing off his character. What they will do is over several episodes they will explain his departure and it will have consequences for the remaining characters.
TV Line has more: “The reasons for his absence,” says Leight, “and the effect it has on the squadroom — and Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) — will be explored in the first several episodes.”
Season 13 of the show starts September 21, 2011. I will be watching to see Stabler’s last episodes but I am not sure if I will continue to watch it. All my favorite characters are leaving and Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) will have a reduced role.
