Robert Pattinson got slammed by a yellow and white custard cream pie and didn’t appear too pleased. Of course the incident occurred while Rob was shooting scenes for his new movie, ‘Cosmopolis.’ Rob in character as Eric Parker looked quite pissed off as the yellow and white custard dripped down his lovely locks and on to his face and white shirt.
Directed by filmmaker David Cronenberg, the movie tells the story of a 28-year-old multi-millionaire attempting to cross Manhattan in a custom built limo in order to get a haircut.
As well as the run in with pie and the vandals, Rob’s route gets interrupted by funeral processions, a state visit, and riots as well as several chance encounters with his wife and would-be assassins.
The production, based on a novel by Don DeLillo, has been plagued with problems from the get go – Colin Farrell was originally cast in the role of Eric Parker but dropped out to take part in the remake of ‘Total Recall.’ Marion Cotillard also pulled out of the movie when she got pregnant and, after Keira Knightley and Noomi Rapace were rumoured to be signing up, her part went to Juliette Binoche.
The biggest problem by far will be trying to make a movie that in any accurate way captures the essence of DeLillo’s writing. While DeLillo is certainly a great writer, his novels are slowly evolving convoluted tone poems – deep and multi-faceted reflections on 20th century life in America – about as well suited for expression in a 2-hour motion picture as a Jimi Hendrix hit is for a McDonald’s commercial.
