Sinead O’Connor is giving Kim Kardashian a run for her money in the shortlived wedding stakes. The Irish singer – best known for the 1990 hit Nothing Compares 2U – has pulled the pin on her fourth marriage after just 18 days. The 45 year old announced the news on her website.
She explains the reasons for ending the relationship with the younger Barry Herridge ‘He is a wonderful man. I love him very much. I’m sorry I’m not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren’t aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband’s life and the lives of those close to him. He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage. I think he is too nice to do so. And too nice to trap.”
She goes on…‘I had for reasons u will all understand, wished to keep this private but have been told today it is to be leaked in the next few days despite my best efforts. So I must now leak it myself so as the record is straight. A woman wants to be a joy to her husband. So.. U love someone? Set them free.’
The singer – who once ripped up a picture of the Pope on American TV – tied the knot with her soon to be ex on December 8 in Las Vegas. She looked anything but the traditional bride with several large tattoos exposed by her strapless pink wedding dress. Friends thought maybe she’d found true love this time around. Sadly, she’s still looking for it.
