Alexander Skarsgard, best known for his role as Erik on the hit vampire drama True Blood, will star in and co-produce a Viking epic for Warner Bros. With Alexander’s Scandinavian heritage at his side, I’m sure he’ll be able to channel just the right amount of Viking energy to pull off the role. True Blood’s Erik is also of Viking descent, so I’d say he’s well equipped for the part.
The tentative title of the movie is The Vanguard, which will center around two Viking brothers who journey from North America back to their homeland of Sweden. I imagine their journey won’t be without it’s road blocks — and I hope they come across some dragons and/or bad ass mythological creatures. I can only hope they’ll be some monster slayin’. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be an epic-Viking fantasy :(
Warner Bros. Studio hopes the film will fall in a vein similar to other fast-paced historical dramas such as Braveheart and Gladiator. What do you all think about Skarsgard’s future role? Excited?
