Taylor Berrett certainly falls within the category of talented. It was truly refreshing to listen to his new single “Anchor Chasing,” which is an intriguing blend of folk rock and soul that — to my ears — is reminiscent of music made by Mumford & Sons.
His music is often time characterized by “sunny-tinted uptempo” melodies and his talent for blending together “introspective acoustic folk sounds with [grooves and beats influenced by the] soul and R&B genres,” which is readily apparent in works such as “Those Days” and “Whole Heart.”
Taylor Berrett is a singer/songwriter based out of Northern Virginia who has recently signed with Universal Motown Records, where he’s currently hard at work completing his first album. He’s also currently managed by the same team that launched Rihanna‘s career. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
While it does comfort me to be able to categorize musicians — neatly place them within the realms of a particular/definable genre — Berrett is a singer and songwriter who appears to dip his feet in a little bit of everything, which is one of the reasons why I think his music will have the power to appeal to so many people in the coming years.
Make sure to take a listen to “Anchor Chasing” (above, via Soundcloud), as well as his other fantastic original songs, which can be found HERE on his YouTube Channel. Let us know what you think of Taylor’s music below!
