When the announcement was made that filming of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 would be moved from Vancouver to Baton Rouge, Louisiana residence were excited. They expected such a extravaganza as Twilight would bring a huge influx of cash to an economy sorely hurting. Typically a big movie production benefits local economy in several ways: 1) employment rises directly through all of the people working on the movie production; 2) the production spends millions of dollars on products and services bought through local business; 3) a production as popular as The Twilight franchise brings the media and tourists dollars as well.
Local Louisiana news channel WAFB report:
Twilight brought an estimated $65.5 million into Baton Rouge. Twilight is estimated to spend another $33 million in 2011 as filming continues.
So Twilight brought in approx $100 million to Baton Rouge. Not only is Twilight Break Dawn the most anticipated motion picture of all time but its giving a big boost to Baton Rouge’s economy.
