Could it be the Christmas spirit that has people going nuts over a picture of Helen Mirren lying naked in a bath? Are they thinking that she might be Santa’s wife? In any case the topless photo of Helen shot by Juergen Teller for New York magazine became a hot Internet trend Monday.
Helen posed this way for story in New York magazine with the headline ‘Madam Helen’ with the subtitle “I’m still the good girl who wants to be a bad girl… .” It was all part of a promotion campaign for the 2010 movie ‘Love Ranch’ directed by her husband Taylor Hackford.
In ‘Love Ranch’ Helen played Grace Botempo, the madam of a 1970’s Reno whorehouse modeled on the very real Mustang Ranch – in prostitution friendly Nevada.
Helen complains in the article that her husband tried to convince her to spend a night at the Mustang Ranch. Helen said there was no way she was spending the night in a whorehouse: “I said, ‘Read my lips: I’m not going to spend a night in a brothel.'” People are weird – they will pose nude for a magazine and play the role of a female pimp with pride – but will not spend a night in a brothel. No method acting for Helen in ‘Love Ranch’ – guess she was not into doing any ‘hands on’ research – LOL.
In the original article Helen is quoted as saying when she was younger: “I’m a would-be rebel—the good girl who’d like to be a bad one… It’s true! I haven’t grown out of that, have I?”
“I’m still the good girl who wants to be a bad girl. But I’ll never make it as a bad girl … I’m not a prude or a moralist and I never have been, but I’m too fearful, too much of a wimp, really.”
Mirren opined that brothels should be legalized because its safer that way for the sex workers. At the same time she made it clear that the money-for-sex life was a scary one, saying: “Susan Austin [the Mustang Ranch’s real madam] said you had to be tough, because maybe you do have 25 psychotic whores. A lot of them come from very dysfunctional backgrounds, and women together like that can be very dangerous.”
