Will Dr. Conrad Murray Be A Suicide Risk On Probation?

Dr. Conrad Murray‘s lawyers are planing to try to get probation for the man found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson when he is sentenced at the end of the month. Meanwhile, Dr. Murray who has been remanded in custody until his sentencing on November 29 is said to have told visitors including former girlfriend Nicole Alvarez, his bodyguard Jeff, and his legal team, that he doesn’t want to live because the trial verdict came as a shock to him.

Sources told TMZ that lawyers Mike Flanagan and Ed Chernoff will push for probation on the grounds the medic has no criminal history and has been a model citizen and good doctor throughout his professional life. The lawyers are currently said to be getting statements from his former patients in order to demonstrate his commitment to medicine.

Dr. Murray has been in the medical ward at Los Angeles County Jail for the majority of his incarceration so far but has no physical ailments – it is assumed he is a danger to himself. Steve Whitmore, the spokesperson for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department refused to be drawn on the claims, explaining: “A person’s medical or mental health status in the Los Angeles County Jail is protected under the law.”

After Dr. Murray was found guilty last Monday it was reported he had been placed on suicide watch and deemed a “keep away inmate”, meaning jail officials will take special precautions to keep him safe, including giving him a single cell for his own protection.

Californian law states that even if Dr. Murray is given the maximum sentence by Judge Michael Pastor, he will only serve a max of two years in prison and could be eligible to sit out the punishment under house arrest. We hope Dr. Murray cheers up and does not harm himself – there is no good that can come of another death.
