The decision involved allowing doctors to put her under anesthesia and operating on her leg to remove a blood clot — or give her antibiotics that could destroy her kidneys.
Today, he signed off on the risky surgery to have the blood clot removed. If they cannot remove the blood clot, they may have to amputate half of her leg. Doctors have said that she has only a fifty percent chance of surviving the surgery. The risk factor is upped because of the anesthesia, due to her age.
