What do the royals do in their spare time? Do they sip tea from fine china and think about their heritage? Do they listen to classical music and eat caviar? No, they don’t… Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton spend their evenings curled up on the couch, watching DVD’s. They’re abnormally normal for wealthy royals. Even Prince Harry joked that they’ve become dull and boring. Harry, should they rather follow in your footsteps and enjoy drunken debauchery?
Can you believe that it’s been a year since they became married at that global event? It feels like the day before yesterday, blurred with CNN inserts and Becky Anderson screaming into a camera. A friend of the couple tells Vanity Fair, “They’ve grown out of clubbing and have no interest in parties. They just enjoy being together at home. It’s all very normal. The last time I went around, William was pottering around making tea and toast, very chilled and relaxed.”
Kate shops during the day at the local supermarket and prepares William’s favorite dinner, roast chicken. She also started making pots of homemade fruit while William is off working as a search-and-rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force. They occasionally also visit their local pub, White Eagle, where William drinks beer and Kate sips on wine.
Queen Elizabeth II gave Kate and William a leave of absence from public events for the first two years of their married life. They currently live happily together in their rented five bedroom house in Anglesey, Wales. The couple opted to only hire security and a cleaner, shying away from the aides and royal handmaidens which were readily available according to their heritage. They will, however, soon be forced to move into the late Princess Diana’s former home at Kensington Palace, where they will be forced to raise a family and produce an heir.
This sounds like a jolly good experience, even if we have to say so ourselves! How fun would it be to live in a rural town without a worry in the world? Ah, the lifestyles of the rich and the famous…
