This happy news gives me hope that reality showmances can spawn more than break-ups and excruciating episodes of Bachelor Pad. Former Bachelor Jason Mesnick and longtime love Molly Malaney Mesnick have revealed to People that they’re expecting a baby in early spring.
Mom-to-be Molly told People, “Our family is getting a little bit bigger! I’m into my second trimester and I feel really good.”
The Bachelor’s Season 13 couple at first attracted intense scrutiny after Jason handed the final rose to Melissa Rycroft – along with a marriage proposal – but weeks later at the After the Rose reunion dumped her in favor of Molly.
Although their romance kindled on The Bachelor, I don’t count them as a franchise success story since they didn’t depart the show together! But don’t feel too bad for Rycroft – she got some reality show gigs then married her ex-boyfriend and seems to be having her own happy ever after – including a baby (daughter Ava Grace) with hubby Tye Strickland.
But back to the Mesnicks — this will be offspring #2 for Jason Mesnick who has seven year old son Tyler Mesnick with ex-wife Hillary. Jason and Molly tied the knot in an ABC special and settled in Seattle in 2010.
And today she tweeted: “We couldn’t be more excited about the pint size peanut on the way :)” Jason also confirmed the couple’s happy news on twitter writing: “Yes its true! WAHOOOOOOOO!!! Molly is going to be a MOM and TY a BIG BROTHER! YIPEEEEEEE!”
Jason and Molly are thrilled but say that future big brother Ty is perhaps most excited. Jason told People, “He’s been so excited to be a big brother. He’s been asking me for years.”
Jason says they told the seven year old over a game of hangman where they revealed “Tyler is going to be a big brother.” Molly also gifted her step-son a “Big Brother” t-shirt that he couldn’t wait to wear to school.
This is no doubt welcome news for Bachelor fans who have been recently disappointed by the not surprising bust up of Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robinson and the slightly more shocking news of Emily Maynard and Jef Holm calling it quits.
Congrats to Jason and Molly Mesnick and big brother Tyler on their new arrival. May the child be healthy, blessed and have the good sense to never go on a reality show!
