Octomom Nadya Suleman may end up eating her words to feed her kids. The controversial mother of 14 declared bankruptcy today by filing for chapter 7 protection. Octo says she will consider a future in porn if the price is right – the price better be right because those kids need to eat.
“If it’s a job, and it’s a well-paying job, and it’s gonna allow me to get out of here and move [my kids] into a very safe, huge home that they deserve … I’m gonna do it,” she told an HLN reporter.
Suleman famously declared in the past that she would never do porn citing her important jobs as mother and role model for her children as her main deterrent.
“I won’t touch other human flesh,” Suleman told the Today show in early April. “The only flesh I’m touching is my own. I would never, never accept anything. I will not lose my grip of my deeply-indoctrinated morals and values. “Every choice we parents make is going to significantly affect our children for the rest of our lives,” she said. “It’s going to haunt them forever — I have to be the ultimate positive role model.”
But, perhaps, recent allegations blasted all over the internet of child neglect and unsanitary living conditions are forcing Suleman to rethink her lofty ideals.
“You know if the opportunity comes up I’ll be the first to admit, I’m gonna eat my words!” She recanted to the reporter. “Because all that matters is that I can take care of my family.”
Suleman’s no stranger to taking her clothes off in front of the cameras or going back on her word. Pressed for cash, she posed nude for Closer magazine for $10,000 though she had said she would never pose naked for money.
That was only last month. What will she do next month?
We have to ask ourselves these questions because I think the main concerns – the children – are getting lost in their mother’s sensationalism. I’ve got no problem with porn stars. They make honest livings, but Suleman isn’t looking for a long term career. I don’t think this woman has the strength or the mental capacity to get herself out of her financial mess, porn aside.
This newest money scheme is just the latest in a series of never ending, embarrassing ways for Suleman to stay afloat and remain in the public’s consciousness. Because she still has this fixation with fame and celebrity. She could have taken that $10,000 and went back to school or learned a trade to better provide for her family. That’s why I don’t buy her explanation that everything is for her kids. Everything has always been about Nadya.
I’m afraid to ask when enough will be enough. Who has to make the first move? Does America need to go cold turkey on its tabloid fix for Suleman and her kids in order to save them, or is Suleman past saving?
