Is it a coincidence that Ryan Reynolds’ ladies, Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson, both got papped in their bikinis this weekend? Blake’s pic scored baby bump theories in the midst of her Savages opening and Scarlett’s spawned new boyfriend rumors. These women wouldn’t use their bodies against each other, would they? And they certainly wouldn’t use their perfectly sculpted (and perhaps man made, Blake?) boobs to get people in theater seats, right? Let’s explore!
Lainey Gossip had an interesting theory that Blake’s party photos over the weekend, featuring a slight bump in the belly and constant make-out sessions with boy toy Ryan, might have had a lot to do with her new movie. The photos were taken over 4th of July weekend, yet they weren’t released until last Friday – the same day as Savages opened. Say what, now? Blake wouldn’t be so conniving and manipulative would she? Well, this is the same girl that was rumored to be scamming on Ryan while he was still married to Scarlett and ditched Leonardo DiCaprio when Ryan became available. Don’t let the cupcakes and the smiles fool you – Blake’s got game. And isn’t it weird that Ryan loathed getting his picture papped with Scarlett when they were married yet he’s always spied with Blake? What does this chick have, beer-flavored nipples or something? (If you can guess the movie quote in the comments section we can be friends FOREVER!).
Now, just a couple days after Blake and Ryan were all loved up, Scarlett creates a firestorm as she was seen sunbathing under the lascivious gaze of her bodyguard in Italy. I’m not speculating on if they’re hitting it on the side because he’s not famous enough for me to care. What I’m speculating on is if this is a “screw you” to Blake especially since word just got out that Scarlett’s paycheck for the new Avengers movie will break records. According to the Huffington Post, Scarlet will take home $20 million to reprise her role as the Black Widow. Clearly, Scarlett doesn’t need to flash her bits for publicity, but there’s got to be some smug satisfaction somewhere in there. Everyone’s got some catty in them. Some (me) more than others! Homegirl is officially the highest paid actress in the world. Point for Scarlett? I think so. Look, I feel for Scarlett. She’s had a couple rough years ever since the Ryan split so I’m excited she’s getting back on her feet. Hopefully, the Avengers success will help her get the juicy roles she’s used to so she can stop filling out lycra jumpsuits in front of green screens.
I think it would be naive to assume the women don’t have a handle on each other’s careers. Don’t act like you don’t shuffle through your ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend’s pictures on Facebook. Don’t play me. We all do it! Blake and Scarlett are about the same age and fighting for the same roles. Despite Blake’s improvements, Scarlett is the better actress – HANDS DOWN. However, Blake will play the game. Blake will use her relationships for publicity and doesn’t mind being considered a sex symbol if it gets her roles. Scarlett has spurned all of those ideas in the past. It will be interesting to watch their careers unfold as the two women want the same ends but use very different means, don’t you think?
