Today brought the announcement – or confirmation – that Britney Spears is indeed a new judge for the The X Factor USA and that $15 million is her new paycheck. Is $15 million dollars the going rate for the poster child of over-medicated zombies? Apparently so, as Simon Cowell made the announcement today at the FOX Upfronts in New York.
“Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world. She’s talented, fascinating, and I believe she knows exactly how to spot the X Factor. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show.”
Cowell handed the microphone to a spaced out and clearly medicated Britney who then spoke in a robotic monotone. Britney was barely able to force out a few memorized words and couldn’t wait to pass the speaking role back to Simon. Futhermore, the star’s words didn’t match her demeanor as the official announcement was made.
“I am so excited about this whole experience. It’s gonna be so much fun and so different from anything I’ve ever done and I’m ready to find the true star.”
Britney seems an emotionless shadow of her former self. She may know the music industry well, but if she is too zoned out to connect with contestants this could easily be a 15 million dollar partnership FAIL! Of course Britney is teamed up with another recovering mental patient – Demi Lovato – Simon sure can pick them! What are the odds that they both finish the season still on the show?
