Simon Cowell has virtually guaranteed the second season of X-Factor USA will be a smash hit. He’s in the final stages of negotiating a multi million dollar deal to get Britney Spears on the Judging panel. The pop superstar is tipped to sign on next week. This is a major win-win for both Simon and Britney. Mr.Cowell needs a big time star to pull in viewers after an average opening season and Brit needs a career boost. According to Deadline.com Britney has her fiance Jason Trawick going over the finer details of the contract. He’s managed to negotiate a massive fee for the former teen pin up. $10 million. Yes, you read that right … the singer will pocket $10 million for helping to find American music’s next big thing. That’s a nice little earner for the Mom of two. It’s not as much as Jennifer Lopez gets for American Idol – she’s getting $12 million – but it’s a good start.
Britney will replace one of the spots left vacant by Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. The pair were dumped after an opening season that failed to set the ratings on fire. But who will fill the other chair? Avril Lavigne has been linked to the show…as has Kelly Rowland who’s been working for Simon on the UK version. LeAnn Rimes has also been mentioned. Unfortunately Janet Jackson bailed on the idea – she would have been perfect! While Simon’s plans to get Whitney Houston on board weren’t to be.
Britney will definitely turn things around for X-Factor. She’s an American sweetheart who went off the rails but managed to overcome her struggles and emerge even stronger. We love a survivor.
