Charitable Celebrities To Be Recognized At 2012 Do Something Awards This Weekend 0815

The Do Something Awards Show is this Sunday, August 19, and Celeb Dirty Laundry has the honor to hang out on the blue carpet and grill those celebrity do-gooders as they file and pose past on their way to the show! Be sure to check back in at that time because I will be on, tweeting and posting pics and trying to contain myself and not fall in my heels as I work the carpet at my first awards show.

The Do Something Awards set themselves apart because they have been recognizing community service and honoring the nation’s best young world-changers since 1996.

This year’s show will be hosted by New Girl’s hilarious trio: Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris and nominees include Kristen BellBen AffleckJustin BieberTaylor SwiftMiley CyrusNicole RichieNeil Patrick HarrisChanning TatumEmma Stone, and many others.

But it’s not just about the celebrities. Ben Affleck will be on hand to present one of the five Do Something Award finalists with a $100,000. This grand prize is the largest prize in the world for young people and social change. All nominees will be rewarded with a $10,000 community grant and continued support from DoSomething.org. Nominees include Manyang Reath Kher, Meg Bourne, Danny Mendoza, Katia Gomez, and Seth Maxwell.

“This year’s list of celebrity nominees is incredible, but no matter who wins, we are really here in celebration of the amazing young people who have accomplished so much.” said Tom Calderone, President of VH1. “This is the largest and most prestigious prize in the world for young people and social change, and we’re proud to share the presentation with our viewers.”
