It’s official. Debra Messing’s husband Daniel Zelman is about to be cut loose and thrown back into the meat market and well, so is Debra. Messing has filed divorce papers in LA County Superior Court via her lawyer Neal Hersh and she’s not turning back. So why the divorce now and not last year?
You all remember back in December when these two announced their separation, right? So really this isn’t big news. The odd thing about this whole situation is that they claimed they were separated but yet they stayed living together in the same house after the announcement. Apparently after about six months, it seems as if Debra and Daniel want to completely cut ties (at least in the legal sense of it all). I have to give these two credit for trying to make it work. But now that they are splitting for good, perhaps now they will get separate homes?
According to TMZ, Debra cites “irreconcilable differences” in the divorce documents. In addition to requesting joint custody of their 8-year-old son, she wants spousal and child support. Why? I don’t know.
Here is the real big shocker though. Apparently these two are getting along. Yes, getting along! Can you believe it? This is definitely one of the rare celebrity divorce cases that could end with no added drama.
Daniel Zelman is an actor, screenwriter and television producer, most notably for his work on the FX drama series Damages. He and Debra met at New York University when they were both students. They married in 2000 and in 2004 produced a son Roman Walker Zelman.
