Tonight the premiere episode of Dogs In The City airs on CBS! Stand by as we will live blog the episode with all the up-to-the-minute details.
Tonight’s opener is titled “I Speak Dog” and the show follows New York City comic and dog guru, Justin Silver as he helps dog owners with dilemmas. In the opener, Justin works with a celebrity skateboarding bulldog that is driving a wedge between its owners; and he tries to help an obese dog lose weight.
This show will definitely “go to the dogs” when Justin, week after week, tries to help hound and owner’s battle real life problems like, joint custody after divorce or dealing with significant others who just moved into the house. Justin has admitted that he speaks dog and will provide dog/owner experiences so that other owners can fix their pet problems.
Now, let say Justin needs an intervention! Well, help is not that far away, Justin will call on his own pit bulls, Chiquita and Pacino to assist him. “I use my dogs as much as possible because the thing that influences dogs most is other balanced dogs.”
I’m looking forward to seeing how Justin deals with the dogs and to find out if he will be able to bring something new to the canine loving audience than perhaps “The Dog Whisperer” with Cesar Millan doesn’t? Cesar is actually in his eighth season of “The Dog Whisperer” and broadcast in more than eighty countries, it will certainly be interesting to see how Justin measures up to the competition.
We will be live blogging the episode with all the up-to-the-minute details at 8 PM EST so make sure to come back to this spot and watch the show with us. Don’t forget to refresh often so you get the most current info! While you wait for the episode you can catch a sneak peek of tonight’s episode below.
TodayJustin is in Riverside Park with Erin and Patrick, owners of Beefy the bulldog who is a Youtube sensation. The celebrity skateboarding dog is loved by everyone, except the owner’s new wife. Justin accesses the problem, basically Erin is frustrated about the relationship with Patrick and Beefy. Erin resents the fact that Beefy is the problem in their marriage. Beefy runs the show at home, even when they are sleeping, Beefy wants all the attention on him. Justin thinks Beefy has his owners right were he wants them and it’s all Patrick’s fault because he is spoiled to the point that he is not his own animal anymore.
Justin sends Erin and Patrick shopping, for a baby gate.
Justin heads over to see Ellie and her dog Charlotte. Justin thinks Ellie’s attachment to the dog is the problem that is causing her dog to be aggressive. Justin decides to take the dog to the park and has a heart to heat with her. Justin decides he needs to teach Charlotte some preventative measures.
Justin is now on the upper east side of Manhattan to visit with Greg and his daughter Allie with their dog Rosie. Greg tells Justin that they got Rosie a week after their other dog passed away and what they fear about her is that she is so big for a female.
Justin is now heading back to see Beefy and Patrick. Justin tells Patrick that his connection with Beefy is closer than anything that he has ever seen. Patrick explains that he was in another relationship before Erin and he bonded with the dog when they broke up. Justin tells Patrick that he has lost perspective and needs to put his wife first.
The first thing that Justin does is put up the baby gate. Right away, Beefy starts to bark. Justin makes sure that Beefy is comfortable on his side of the gate and gives him treats.
Justin explains to Patrick that he needs to continue doing the same thing, it is all about practicing and taking baby steps to get over the separation anxiety.
Justin meets with Ellie again, he doesn’t think Charlotte should be in the office, it’s insane. What Justin is worried about is that if Charlotte bites someone, they can force the authorities to put her to sleep. Justin is going to show her techniques, to come up with a system of prevention.
Justin tests having Charlotte tethered to a table and when one of the models brings in a dog, Charlotte attacks. The more they work on Charlotte the less aggressive she is.
Time for Rosie to go to the vet, she weighs 101 pounds which is right in line for her breed. The vet suggests that Rosie get more good food than bad food, a good at home regiment. Now, it is time for Justin to work at the park with Allie and Rosie to show them some exercises they can do together.
Justin is now with Beefy and Erin, he is going to help them to walk together. Justin first puts Beefy on a short leash so that Erin can queue him every time she wants him to move forward. Erin has the leash, she walks three steps then gives Beefy a queue. The learning curve for the dog is usually quick, for the owner it’s longer.
Erin tells Justin that she is having a surprise party for Patrick and Justin wants her to bring Beefy, but she is reluctant. Erin ends up bringing Beefy to the party and Patrick is thrilled, he sees the changes in Beefy and is very happy.
The end.
