Entertainment Weekly has just released a special collection of 11 totally awesome, completely fangerific True Blood covers, which feature the cast in all of their bloody brilliance. The covers, which will be released this Friday, June 8, highlight some of Bon Temps’s finest, craziest, and thirstiest peeps, including Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Alcide (Joe Manganiello), Tara (Rutina Wesley), Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), Pam (Kristen Baur van Straten), Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), Bill (Steven Moyer), Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), Jason (Ryan Kwanten), and the newest sheriff in town . . . big bad vampire authority Roman (Christopher Meloni).

I am unbelievably excited for the fifth season premiere, which airs on HBO on June 10th, and I, like many of my faithful Truebies, have been whetting my appetite with borderline hearty spoilers and generous helpings of enticing trailers. Waiting truly does suck, but we’re a patient bunch so I think we can handle it, right?

Speaking of spoilers and teasers . . . Alan Ball, in an interview with EW, chatted a bit on the “world dynamics” that will be present this season. As always, this season of True Blood won’t just promise us battles between Light and Dark but will also highlight the very real world dramas that tend to form between groups that harbor different opinions, mindsets, and perspectives.

“My first instinct about going into religion and politics was from watching Michele Bachmann, who thinks she has a direct line to God. What would happen if she became president? A lot of right-wingers would like to see a theocracy in America. From there we thought, ‘What would a vampire theocracy be and how would you justify it? What kind of impact would it have on humans?’”

How exciting! Looks like all this will translate into a feisty battle between the rule-following-I-only-drink-True-blood Vampire Authority and the vampire extremists known as the Sanguinistas — a volatile group who view humans as being nothing more than blood bags.

Check out the photo gallery of the magazines below and be sure to check out the physical magazines themselves when they hit store shelves on Friday! What do you think of these new pics?
