Navid Negahban, who plays a terrorist on the hit Showtime series Homeland, recently spoke out about his character, Abu Nazir, a Bin Laden type character who is wanted for acts of terrorism. When he was asked what it’s like to play such a sinister character like Abu Nazir, Navid replied, “Depends on how you look at it. Sometimes the terrorists in other countries are all the heroes,” he says in a statement to TMZ.
Ummm, are you joking? You are playing a character not unlike Osama Bin Laden, who was the mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and you make a comment like that? No, dude, terrorists are not the heroes. If they terrorize any one person or country they are by no means considered a hero. If you had a point it is definitely lost on the the victims of your “heroes.”
Perhaps you should take a moment to think about what you are going to say before word diarrhea spews from your mouth. Clearly your comment was a mistake or possibly an accident. I do hope that you realize you are an actor; and, therefore, any public statement you make will be ripped to shreds before you have walked away.
Navid, I am sure this morning you are waking up and regretting every syllable that was recorded last night. Perhaps you were in a bad mood, though from the smile on your face, I highly doubt it. So I will just chalk it up to good ‘ole inebriation. We all like to partake in the drink every now and then, unfortunately you may have had one too many which led to this. You’ll be lucky to keep your job after the public outcry that is sure to come. So, I will look for your public apology issued by your publicist in the coming days.
