The internet has lit up this week with the news that soap fans have been anxiously awaiting. It looks like there is a possibility that All My Children may finally hit the internet, as GLOBE has reported, with new episodes in a few short months. If you remember, the long running hit show was canceled by ABC last year and it aired its final show, a cliffhanger in the fall of 2011. Rumors spread almost immediately that the show would come back to live via the internet in January 2012. Prospect Park was the company ready to take over production but that original deal crumbled.
That was then, this is now and right now Prospect Park is set to bring not just AMC, but also One Life to Live back very early in 2013. Things are looking so promising that some of the series to players have already been contacted- and by top I do mean Susan Lucci. The grand dame of All My Children has been asked back according to a close pal, “There have been some talks, but word wasn’t supposed to get out yet.”
AMC fans have to be over the moon with that news, after all it is hard to imagine any sort of revival without La Lucci! Whether or not Lucci is available to revive her role as Erica Kane is unknown. The actress hasn’t exactly taken a break once AMC wrapped production. She has continued acting and showing her support at various charity events. Would she want to go back and help usher AMC into a new online era? She was a vital part of the show for over 30 years, it would make sense to bring Erica into this new age of webisodes, don’t you think?
Do you think ABC’s defunct fan favorites really will finally find their home on the internet and if so, will you be watching? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
