The soon-to-be Christian Grey, the Night of the Living Dummy himself, Ian Somerhalder, has been enjoying some sexy time with his Vampire Diaries co-star, Nina Dobrev – no, she’s not a Dancing with the Stars professional. Earlier this week, Somerhalder and Dobrev were spotted indulging in an age-old American tradition; shopping for a Christmas tree. It’s not yet clear whether the two love birds will be staying behind in Atlanta – Vampire Diaries’ HQ – or whether they’ll be travelling back to wherever they came from.
Vampire Diaries fangs – sorry, typo – fans have been gossiping about the relationship between Somerhalder and Dobrev. They have never confirmed that their relationship is serious, nor have they officially come out of the proverbial relationship closet, but the laws of predictability dictate that if one is with someone for over a year (and Wikipedia says you’re dating), it’s most probably a long-term relationship that’s been kept away from the grubby paws of mega fans and Somerhalder stalkers in basements. The two have also been spotted kissing and holding hands in public, so either they’re really, really intimate BFFs who need to suck one another’s faces to become immortal, or they’re a couple. You decide.
Essentially, it’s no one’s business whether they’re official or not, but as we know Hollywood, it needs to be cemented in the Hollywood Walk of Fame in order to have any veracity to it. Perhaps Somerhalder and Dobrev made the decision to keep their private lives just that – private. And fans should respect that decision. It’s extremely rare to see a couple of this magnitude not publically express their fame whoring love for one another. In Hollywood, relationships are based on how many Twitter followers you have and how many ridiculous public polls link you up like a game of Connect 4.
It’s a breath of fresh vampire air that shouldn’t be questioned. We can at least sleep sound at night knowing that Somerhalder and his Russian bride aren’t fame whoring trolls like Kristen Stewart and her team of female Hollywood cheerleaders.
