Kate Middleton is becoming a fashion leader and this means that the conservative look is definitely on rise. Duchess Catherine is now the most looked-at woman in the world as well as the most admired. Her clothing choices are elegant, modest, and conservative while always fresh and never dowdy.
Seeing freaks like Rihanna and Lady Gaga always pushing the ugly envelope with their overtly sexual mess makes Kate look even better. We adore Kate and hope that she continues to have a strong influence on today’s fashion.
CLEO Australia reports: Call us nannas, but we’ve started to get in touch with our inner conservatives lately. Inspired by HRH Kate Middleton (sorry, Catherine – also a somewhat conservative name) and a cavalcade of chic dressers, this season’s below the-knee hemlines have seen us lusting after pencil skirts and peplum dresses.
Long sleeves are also back, teamed with round necklines – not a skerrick of side boob to be seen. Spotted on Kate Bosworth and Olivia Palermo, think ‘sexy secretary’ rather than ‘slutty singer’. There’s now something decidedly unsexy about watching Rihanna being spanked in a grotty flat in a video clip, and Lady Gaga touching her own breasts, licking her arm and pulling down her thong while posing for photographs.
We’re not the only ones who are tired of the tawdry. It seems a revolt against raunch culture is brewing. Rihanna’s “We Found Love” clip was banned from daytime TV in France; a film about the First Lady of Conservative, former British Prime Minister Maggie Thatcher, conquered the box office worldwide; and people are switching off the antics of boozed-up Essex girls and tuning into the refined world of Downton Abbey.
We have seen quite enough of the Amy Winehouse, Demi Moore, and Whitney Houston school of overindulgence and tragedy. Kate Middleton is a model of great behaviour and joyous exuberance… long live the Duchess!
