Kim Kardashian was out in Los Angeles last night in the name of charity. The reality TV star attended the Cinema for Peace Haiti relief fundraising event.
It’s two years since the devastating earthquake in Haiti and many stars are still actively involved in helping the Caribbean country get back on its feet. Joining the most famous Kardashian were Oscar winners Sean Penn and Hilary Swank, Orlando Bloom, Demi Moore and daughter Rumer Willis, Mel Gibson, Supermodel Petra Nemcova and the girl formerly known as Punky Brewster Soleil Moon Frye.
As we reported on Celeb Dirty Laundry last month Kim recently visited the country to see the relief effort first hand. She made the trip in mid December. There was talk the visit was more about Kim than the Haitians. She hit back ‘While my experience was completely life-changing … a very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget, some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things. Our mission was to learn more about the charity, We Advance, meet the Haitian people who have made such amazing progress since the devastating earthquake in 2010, and celebrate the women of Haiti, who inspired me more than I ever could have anticipated.’
It’s nice to see celebrities sticking with a cause long after the good publicity wears off. A lot of big names jump on the bandwagon after an initial disaster but don’t see the project through. So good on Kim K for continuing to bang the drum for Haiti!
