It’s not totally out of the realm of possibility, right? It’s not like it’s Fifty Shades of Grey or anything. This is Star Wars 7! And yes, the nerds will come out in droves despite the last three movies being utter disappointments. But try to wrap your heads around this – Twihards and Star Wars freaks unite for a Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson-helmed trilogy. Did your head just explode from the amazingness?
Ever since news broke that Disney bought LucasFilm and was ready to pimp out another Star Wars franchise people have been quick to place their bets on who should take over the iconic roles of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Harrison Ford bad ass Han Solo. Gawker’s already placed bets on Taylor Lautner for a young Han which made me throw up in my mouth a little bit but then I realized it couldn’t possibly have been serious since Taylor is quite possibly the worst actor in the Twilight bunch and that’s saying an awful lot. But that obviously got us thinking over here at CDL and we couldn’t help but picture Rob and Kristen as Luke and Leia or Han and Leia rather, because Robsten fans wouldn’t be able to handle their shit if Rob and Kristen didn’t play love interests and I’d like to think even Twihards would find it difficult to get over an incestuous plot line.
Oddly enough, no one else has jumped on the Rob and Kristen/Star Wars 7 bandwagon yet. In a recent Fox News story, Rooney Mara, Emile Hirsch, Nina Dobrev and Lily Collins‘ names have come up along with Ryan Gosling since Gosling fans think he should be the lead in just about every movie that comes out.
Keep in mind there is no script or plot yet although a rumored 2015 release is being bounced around. Forget my uppity comment from before, Star Wars 7 might have more in common with Fifty Shades of Grey than I thought!
But if the Natalie Portman/Hayden Christensen trilogy taught movie makers anything it’s that the stars need chemistry (and a possible off-screen relationship) to make a movie sing. And those movies did not sing. Star Wars 7 will need an are they aren’t they couple and Kristen and Rob have the game plan down. Sure good acting helps but it’s clearly not necessary to make a franchise millions. Kristen and Rob have that game plan down too.
If I could choose a Leia and Han (because, really who gives a shit about Luke), I’d choose Evan Rachel Wood and Neville Longbottom’s Matthew Lewis. Have you seen that kid lately? Totally hot and manly – like, he has facial hair which is what a young Han needs – not so much facial hair but the ability to convince people he can actually grow it. Sure Rob can grow a beard but it still comes out looking emo-inspired and I just can’t get down with it. Yes, ERW and Neville Longbottom. Make it happen Disney!
Do you want Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to star in Star Wars 7 or is that crazy talk? Who do you want to see play Han, Leia and Luke?
