Normally when celebrities attach their names to certain products, I often find myself wondering if they do so because they believe in the product, or if it’s for other ‘reasons’ (I’m not going to sugar coat it, there’s a lot of money to be made when endorsing said products).
So upon learning that Kristen Stewart was the new face behind the fashion house of Balenciaga and it’s latest scent, I wasn’t too worried that my leading Twilight lady had ‘sold out’. Kristen – albeit uber shy and perhaps slightly insecure when in the spotlight – comes off as an independent mind and one who won’t ‘conform’ to Hollywood standards. There I go talking like she’s my best friend again … you get the idea.
The 21-year-old was asked by Balenciaga to be the spokesperson for it’s newest scent because “Balenciaga has always stood out to me”. She told WWD:
“Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved Balenciaga, it feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It provokes on a number of levels. It isn’t afraid or contrived. It hits a very cool balance, always. Always pretty undeniable.”
It also probably doesn’t help that Kristen has a new movie coming out soon to promote, Snow White and the Huntsman. At least she’s going to smell good.
