NBC’s popular show PARENTHOOD returns tonight with a whole new episode. Tonight’s ninth episode of the 4th season is called “Trouble in Candyland.” On tonight’s show Sarah puts her energy into helping Hank mend his relationship with his family, leaving Mark increasingly impatient with his status in Sarah’s life. On last week’s show Julia adjusted to her new role as a stay at home mom while supporting Joel’s ambitions. Crosby encountered a disruptive neighbor that might have threaten the future of the Luncheonette. Sarah and Mark disagree about parenting and relationship issues. Max was forced to make a difficult decision as the new student council President while Kristina and Adam encouraged him to take advantage of new experiences. Amber tried to help Ryan with his career.
On tonight’s show Sarah (Lauren Graham) puts her energy into helping Hank (Ray Romano) mend his relationship with his family, leaving Mark (Jason Ritter) increasingly impatient with his status in Sarah’s life. Julia (Erika Christensen) is concerned with Victor’s (Xolo Mariduena) frustration with school and seeks advice from Kristina (Monica Potter) on how to provide encouragement.
Joel (Sam Jaeger) reluctantly hires Ryan (Matt Lauria) on his construction site despite Ryan’s lack of experience. Crosby (Dax Shepard) and Adam (Peter Krause) enter a legal battle to save the Luncheonette while attempting to record an album for Academy Award winning musician Glen Hansard. Also starring Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Miles Heizer, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Xolo Mariduena, Max Burkholder, Mae Whitman and Savannah Paige Rae.

Tonight’s recap: Crosby is still having problems with his neighbour, this time she has made a complaint about a car illegally parked and has a two truck pick it up – the thing is, the care belongs to Crosby’s client and he is not happy about it.
Julia is doing homework with the children and Victor is not in the mood, he wants to get ready for baseball but Julia won’t let him give up. Meanwhile, Sydney keeps interrupting and answering the questions for Victor – everyone starts raising their voices and Victor pushes the paper towards Julia, he is not doing it.
Sarah is packing for her trip and makes small talk with Mark but he deosn’t want to, in fact, he doesn’t want her joining him for the wedding at all, he wants her to go help Hank. He goes and calls her a great employee and a lousy fiancé.
Hank and Sarah are in Minnesota visiting his daughter Ruby and his ex-wife Sandy is upset because it is not his weekend. Sarah takes Ruby away for a bit and the ex lays right into Hank and tells him not to pull anything.
Crosby has told Adam about their nightmare neighbour, they need to go to city council because she could shut them down. Adam says they are going to visit her and apologize, Crosby says sarcastically that he is going to use his jedi approach.
Sarah calls Mark and apologizes while Hank is talking to Ruby about moving to Minnesota. Ruby seems fine with it and Hank is surprised that she doesn’t mind leaving her friends and school. Ruby does think that that part is horrible but overall it is pretty cool.
It’s late in the evening, Hank and Sarah are having drinks and he is pouring his heart out about his daughter moving away. Sarah keeps looking at her phone and Hank asks her if there is trouble in Candyland. Hank and Sarah are in the hotel hallway, they are both drunk and Sarah finds Mark sitting on the floor in front of her door, very surprised to see her and Hank drunk and holding on to each other.
Sarah and Mark are in the hotel room and he is pissed, he felt so bad that he called her a lousy fiancee and flew to Minnesota to say sorry. Sarah tries to apologize and Mark walks out, he caught the two in an uncompromising situation and he is left wondering what would have happened if he had not shown up.
Ryan’s first day on the job, Zeek got him a job working in construction.
The next morning, Sarah is at the hotel restaurant with Hank and he tries to make conversation over coffee when Sarah tells him that it is not her job to fix him. Sarah goes on to tell him that she had an exceptionally bad night and Mark is not picking up the phone.
Crosby is in the studio with Glen Hansard when Amber walks in to replace him because he forgot about a meeting between Adam and their neighbor, Marlese who comes right on the attack. Crosby tells Marlese to politely back off because Adam is going through a lot with his wife going through chemo and she tells them that she went through the same thing last year. Then it dawns on Marlese that the men could be using the cancer to gain her sympathy, she gets upset and tells them that she will see them at the city council meeting.
Sarah looked everywhere for Mark, she finally found him in the gym and begs him to believe that nothing was going to happen between her and Hank.
Julia heads over to see Kristina for advice on what to do with Victor and his school work, she tells Julia that they bribe him with candy.
Adam is preparing his speech for the City Council meeting when Amber finds an email that was sent to their neighbors from Marlese of Crosby peeing in the alley.
Julia buys a huge jar of candy and tries to use the tactic on Victor – but he gets frustrated when he can’t do it and calls himself stupid.
Hank meets Mark in the elevator and lets slip that Sarah knew the trip was not about business but rather helping him with his daughter. Hank tells Mark to cut her some slack and he tells Hank to mind his own business.
Joel is home, Julia tells him that she really wants Victor to pass his test tomorrow so he feels smart.
Mark and Sarah are out for dinner and he tells her that he ran into Hank in the elevator and he told him that the whole trip was a sham and she knew about it. Mark is very upset and feels like every time Sarah has something good in her life, she does something to ruin it, furthermore, he loves her but he can’t do this anymore. Mark gets up and leaves.
Victor is home from school and he yells at Julia because he failed the test, he calls her a liar for telling him that if he studied he would pass and he calls himself stupid.
City Council is in order, Marlese is the first person to speak. Crosby walks in, late and tells the council about the great musicians who have practiced at the Luncheonette. Crosby has a surprise, he has brought along tons of his neighbors to account for Crosby and Adam’s characters. Marlese just lost her fight against the Luncheonette.
Hank and Sarah meet in the lobby of the hotel, ready to go home, both did not have good outcome in Minnesota.
