Kate Middelton and her Prince, William, rang in the New Year of 2012 in a tent! Yes, the royal couple chose a low-key venue for their celebrations – a tent pitched in the back garden of the Middleton family home in Berkshire, England. And who better to play hostess than Kate’s little sister Pippa, who’s in the party-planning business.
Apparently Pippa has expensive taste as the tent, a teepee-style kata made of animal hides, cost nearly $5,000 – hope PETA won’t object… . Peta was quick to praise Kate for not participating in the royal annual holiday bloodsport – a hunt at the royal game preserve at Sandringham. Will they be as quick to bash her stylish sister?
Described by a source as a “canvas palace,” the tent enclosed a dance floor and seating for more than 100 partygoers. “[Catherine] looked full of the joys of the season,” as she laughed and joked with her husband, the future King.
Originally it was thought that Prince William and Duchess Catherine would ring in the New Year at his father’s sprawling Aberdeen, Scotland, estate, but when it came time to celebrate, the couple chose to hang with people their own age.
Royal party animal Prince Harry, was absent as he rang in the New Year in Switzerland, where he was spotted at the ski resort Verbier.
The celebration in her hometown comes nearly a week after Kate managed her first Christmas as a royal in Sandringham.
