Tupac Shakur Is Going On Tour 16 Years After He Died

There’s no such thing as resting in peace when you’re a famous dead rapper. After Tupac Shakur‘s resurrection at Coachella over the weekend there’s talk he’ll head out on the road this summer. Tupac could headline a US tour featuring Eminem, 50 Cent, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg  – even though he’s been dead for 16 years.

Thanks to the wonders of technology the rapper – who was shot dead in 1996 – appeared as a hologram at the music festival on Sunday night. $100,000 was spent on the image which walked, talked, sang and moved just like the real 2Pac. It was cutting edge technology and the crowd loved it. The performance has since gone viral and the virtual Tupac is a star.

Now there are plans to capitalize on the stunt and take it on the road. A report in the Wall Street Journal says ‘one option would be a tour in stadiums, involving other hip-hop stars, including Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa. Alternately, they could stage a more limited tour, featuring only Dre, Snoop Dogg and the virtual Tupac, in smaller arenas‘ and ‘representatives for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg plan to discuss logistics for a tour involving the two performers and the virtual Tupac‘.

A tour like this would be massive. Tupac is bigger in death than in life. The legend has only grown since he was killed in a drive by shooting in Las Vegas aged only 25.  His image is always bobbing up on posters, tee-shirts and memorabilia. A tour featuring a virtual Tupac would even give Lady Gaga and Madonna a run for their money.
